Pattern Cams
These are fitted into or on to machines to enable them to make fancy stitches. You need the right type..Page updated, rebated, inspected, selected, and made to jump up-and-down a lot, November 2024
PLEASE NOTE - although I am very fond of cams, I'm not really an expert, and sometimes you just need to do your own research. There are good groups on Facebook for such, and a lot of good information. If I don't list them here, I really, really haven't got them...
Individual Cams
CAM046 Singer Flat Cams (Type A, for 238, 240, 248, 258, 306, 316, 319, 320, 328, 338, 348, 358, 360, 368, 418, 477, 478, 514, 518, 538, 818, 838, 1730 and 1800 machines and others)

CAM046c From Singer 514 with hold-down; £5
Singer black "top hat" cams come in two basic types, which I will call CAM048a (Earlier types, for Singer 401, 403, 411, 431, 500, 501, 503, 600, 603, 620, 628, 635, 638, 648, 650, 670, 680, 690, 700, 720, 740, 750 and 758 models)
and CAM048b (Later type, for Singer 690, 700, 758 and possibly others...)
Hold on a minute, though, these early ones come in three distinct types, and from France, USA, and No-where-in-particular. And they vary very slightly in configuration...

So, look at what you have and try to pay attention. No returns on these if sent abroad, so make absolutely sure you get what you need

CAM048a Type - note, two holes in the base and a deeper "top hat" part

CAM048a-1 - with no place of origin. Totally flat base
In stock, numbers 1, 3, 4, 6, 11, 12, 14, 20
CAM048a-2 "Made in France" - these have a shallow depression underneath next to the D-shaped hole

CAM048a-3 "Singer USA" - a small slanted depression underneath these ones. The stock numbers are the same for all three sub-types
In stock, numbers 1, 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 14, 20
CAM048a-3 In Boxes! All "USA" type, immaculate examples in pretty boxes. Only one each, numbers 3, 4, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21

This is a CAM048b, the later type, note the four holes through the base and the shallower top
In stock - numbers 0, 1, 4, 5 and 12 only (Patterns appear to be the same as the earlier types for each number)
