How Much Is My Sewing Machine Worth? Or, Why I Can't Value Your Mum's Old Singer...

You know, I really do mean it when I say "No Valuations" and here is why...

You ring me up, and say "how much?" and all I can tell you is "not much". Singer (and all the other makers) made millions of machines; they don't compost so lots still around, but they do rust and seize up and get very dirty.
So - Do you know what make and model it is? Is it Immaculate? Clean? Turns nicely? All its paint and woodwork pristine? No woodworm? No decorations worn or missing? All the little tools in the box? All the paperwork and the receipt still with it?
If the answer to any of these questions is no, then sadly, you may be better trying to give it away rather than sell it.

Collectors like Very Good examples of any of the commoner machines, and the chances of yours being uncommon are, well, uncommon...

And then there's Where Is It? Have you the least idea how much trouble it is to pack and post a sewing machine?

I do, which is why I absolutely don't do this..

Never...

So, unless it's shaped like a lion, or made of gold, please just use it.. They don't make anything that good these days, and modern machines are such rubbish on the whole...

And if it was granny's, your kids will be so cross if you throw it away...
